Last friday i went for a Power Slim Body Massage at Bella Luna. Well not that I want a power slim massage, it came free when i opt for an electronic billing for my citibank bill. I have 2 choices: a power slim body massage or a facial. Since I have never tried wrap and stuff, I decided to try that massage.
I was greeted by friendly smiles and relatively good service when I enter Bella Luna. After a few min of talking + a short survey (required by citibank), I was asked to lock up my bag in the locker and head into the treatment room. Before I start with my treatment, I was weighed. Next my masseuse passed me a disposable underwear and shower cap to change into. Unlike other spa I have been to, there was no robes.
The treatment, Power Slim Body Massage consist of a 30min full body massage + 30min steam relaxer (i think that’s what it is called). It is supposed to help you relax and at the same time detox you. Sounds good right? Now that is the problem with most spas. Getting wrapped and steamed will help your body lose sweat. Afterall the only thing that is allowed to pass through your skin is sweat. (ok, oil can pass through too but steaming will not lose oil.) So basically such slimming treatment will detox you of nothing but sweat. I’ll not go into details about detox and slimming here. I will let you know more bout how the treatment was done instead.
The masseuse started the massage using a very different oil. According to her, the oil is actually pretty useful for slimming. Generally, the massage was pretty relaxing but there were times that I was left feeling cold when she did not warm the oil with her palms before putting on me. Like cold oil on your back, that’s not really nice. Also, the towel that she used to cover my eyes was not warmed. Even the home spa I went to last time uses warm towel so I felt it was somewhat unprofessional to not use a warm towel.
After the massage, she covered me in some muddish like thing and wrap me up. Once again, she covered my eyes with a towel that was not warm while she set up the steam relaxer. Before she left, she handed me a bell so that I can call for help if it gets too hot. There I was, lying like a mummy for the next 30 mins. It wasn’t really nice cause you can’t really move. I was feeling itchy halfway due to the dripping of my sweat all over me. So it really wasn’t very comfy.
After about 30 mins, she came in and unwrap me. What a relieve for I was dying from itch. She then told me that it was done and I can go shower up. They had a dresser (or rather a dressing station) with hairdryer, comb and stuff which I felt was very nice. However, my makeup pouch was in my bag which was in locker room. I couln’t touch up my makeup.. So what’s the point of having a dresser in the room? They really should just place the locker or even a cupboard in room instead of having a locker room.
When I went out to collect my bag, I was served with ginger tea. Another consultant then came over and talk to me about their packages available. It was kind of hard selling to me for their packages were so flexible like it was created on the spot. That was not cool to me. But I have to say that as much as they are hard selling, they were still very friendly and not pushy. So if you say no, they will not keep asking you about the same thing.
Overall I’d rate it a 3 out of 5. I’ll go for it again if it’s free but I really don’t think it is worth $180 (or is it $150) for that hour plus slimming massage.
If you are interested to check out their website at http://www.mybellaluna.com/index.html
They are currently having a promo : S$28 Power Slim Body Massage. If you really like wrapping, steaming and stuff, you can really try this out. For $28 is quite worth it.
