Tip #9: I want less visible pores!
A lot of us have this problem with enlarged pores. Try applying an alcohol-free toner after washing your face. The result is not instant but over time, pores will look less visible!

Status: YEAH, I’ve laid my hands on Siri!

It’s been 2 years since I’ve started using iPhone and all I’m kinda used to (ok maybe a little tad addicted) to it. So while re-contracting my phone line, I decided to “upgrade” my iPhone 3Gs to iPhone 4s. After placing my order with Singtel, I decided to shop online for a new pretty cover while waiting for my phone to be delivered.

Straight away, I thought of the shop that Blair Fowler (a Youtube star) mentioned in one of her videos in the past: Cellairis and I went to check it out. (She and her sister, Elle, actually designed some of the covers sold at Cellairis) I was in love with quite a few but what stopped me from buying was the huge shipping fee! (Major boo boo). It would set me back by $50+ which I thought would get me something decent locally as well. But after shopping for a bit more, I still could not decide on a cover that I really like. That’s when I decided on Gmask!

Back to Gmask, Google “Gmask review Singapore” and you’d probably see some bad reviews about it. For those who don’t know what Gmask is, basically it’s a “skin” for your phone. You get to choose your own design and they will print it and stick it on your phone. However, customers have been complaining about the lousy techniques of the sales assistant who will be in-charge of placing the Gmask on their phones. They often result in uneven placing causing visible bubbles. Some even complained about their phones got scratched! I was indeed worried but I went down to a Gmask outlet (at Tampines Mall) anyway.

Result: The colour was supposed to be brownish (like those recycled paper colour) but I guess pinkish is fine as well.

Experience:
Hearing what the sales assistants may do to my phone, I decided to get the plastic cover instead of having the Gmask directly on my phone. The sales assistant was polite while telling me to choose a design from their collection. They have indeed quite a fair bit of designs you can choose from. After deciding on my design, I was to make payment and collect my Gmask-ed cover in about 20mins time. When it’s ready for collection, all you have to do is to check on the quality and if it’s alright, you are done! That’s kinda fast. There’s also a one month warranty should you Gmask be peeling off.

Price:
For my phone (iPhone 4s), it cost $24 to Gmask just the back cover and an additional $10 for the plastic cover should you decide not to place the skin directly on your phone.

Results:
When I went back to collect my cover, there’s no sign of unevenness with the sticking and no visible bubbles seen. However, the colour of the skin was completely different from the design I had chosen! When asked, the sales assistant simply said: What you see on screen may be different from the colour being printed. I wasn’t really happy with her reply especially since I wasn’t told at the start that the colours may differ. But  had let it go because 1) I was in a rush, 2) the colour turned out acceptable for me. In fact, I kinda like it LOL. Another thing is that, their designs are not customised to the dimensions of your phones. So there may be some stretching done to the proportion of the design thus the image proportion may look different from what you see on the computer screen.

Overall:
It was quite cool to have something different but I find that they should have warned their customers regarding the difference in colour and image proportion. I’ve heard from webbies that the branch at Suntec (located on level 2 at a push cart) is the best in terms of service and skills of the sales assistant. If you are really unhappy with the outcome, I’m sure you can try telling them and they can actually tweak to your liking. Try to be there while they are Gmask-ing your phone.

Status: Seriously, I’m suppose to do my MA assignment but heck no, I’m in the midst of making snow globe! LOL

With exactly a week to christmas, you probably have already started your christmas shopping. Should you require some gift ideas, why don’t you consider making it yourself? Here’s a simple and easy-to-do gift idea: Mini Snow Globe.

Some items you require to get your snow globe started!

Required Items:
Empty Snow Globe or Jar with Lid
Figurines for “scene”
Glitter
Water
Glycerin
Hot Glue Gun

Step 1:
Warm up your glue gun for about 10 minutes. Attached your “scene” (figurines) to the base of the lid with the glue gun. Allow it to dry completely (you can leave it overnight).

Step 2:
Place 2 tablespoon of glitter and half a tablespoon of glitter into the jar.

Step 3:
Fill up the jar with water. You would want to fill it up completely or at least very close to the top.

Step 4:
Place the lid (now with the figurines stuck on) back on and make sure that it is tightly capped. You may want to seal it as well.

Tips:

• Glycerin helps to slow down the falling of the “snow”. You may use baby oil instead (of glycerin + water).
• Make sure the figurines are waterproof as some clay figurines especially those self-made clay figurines are not. If you want to make your own, try using polymer clay instead of paper clay.
• If you cannot find empty snow globe jar like mine, you can use any other jars with lid. Baby food jars work best.
• I bought my jar at those kids colouring store. Some Popular Bookstore sell it too.

Tip #8: Moisturizer? Think twice!
I know how people always say about moisturizing. But I have been told by my doctor that  it is not for everyone! The weather in Singapore is way too hot and humid for those with sensitive acne prone skin and it will actually cause more harm than good. So if you find that your skin seems clogged all the time and that acne is always hanging around, time to skip that daily moisturizer. Limit it to twice a week if you must!

Status: Chiong-ing MA homework!! 4 MA lectures in a span of 1.5 weeks is indeed to stress to manage!

Ok pardon my rambling as I’m a bit stressed up with the upcoming week. But I realise that I had not been updating my blog so yar, here’s one that has been drafted since eons ago.

If you have realise, my favourite nail “trend” is french manicure and I wear it on almost all occasions. One fine day, I just suddenly grew bored with it and I wanted to try something new. Guess what I found? Words on nails!

Lindsay Lohan made the news with her message to the Judge in court. I disapprove of that but still, the idea of having words on nails was somewhat cute.

Status: Suppose to be writing an essay but hey, blog post is an essay too right? =p

While flipping through the November issue of Cleo, I came by this Shu Uemura ad for their UV Base Mousse. I was thinking, mousse, this would be interesting… After flipping a few more pages, I saw the Maybelline Pure BB Mineral Mousse which will hit the stores in November (it was somewhere in mid October then). I did a mental note to check out these 2 mousse products. As expected, Shu Uemura’s mousse was like way above my budget at the moment and surprisingly, the Maybelline’s mousse was priced at only $23.90 at Watsons. So immediately, I noted to self to check out the ingredients and make the purchase once it’s on shelve.

Somewhere near the end of October, the Maybelline BB Mousse was shelved! Though without any tester, I made the purchase. Afterall, after deducting my Watsons rebate, I only have to pay $18.90 for it. So here comes the part where you will be interested: the REVIEW.

Price:
Like I’ve mentioned, it is selling at $23.90 at Watsons (and everywhere else I think) for a 65g bottle. I always have this impression that you will use mousse at a faster rate than other texture. So I think I’ll finish the bottle at a relatively fast rate.

Packaging:
The product came in a bottle with nozzle, unlike the jar version of their previous Dream Matte Mousse. Everything on the bottle is written in Japanese but there’s an attached ingredient list pasted on the plastic wrapper and a small card in english stating how to use the product.

Product:
I like it but for some reason, I’m not loving it. The texture is quite light and you can apply it either with your fingers oor a sponge. However, I’m not sure it it’s my skin or what, it gets a little streaky/patchy when I spread the mousse on my face with a sponge. So I usually end up slight patting the mousse onto my face instead. The product, like their BB cream, come in only one colour shade but I’m lucky to have the mousse shade somewhat similar to my skin tone. The good thing about it is that it also has a SPF of 30! No need to put additional sunscreen!
So on days that I want light coverage, I simply apply the mousse and lightly brush some loose powder over to give a “non-madeup” makeup effect.
It didn’t cause any breakouts on my skin as well.

Application:
The application is pretty simple. Simply pump out a walnut-sized amount onto palm and apply and blend outwards using fingertips or sponge onto cheeks. Repeat for forehead, nose and chin.

Overall Rating:

Will I buy this product again?: Most probably. I like the texture, cream base always cause my skin to breakout.
