Status: Scrambling for Valentine’s Day gift ideas.
I know I know, is less than a week and I have no glue clue on what to get (am getting BB a bag from ASOS but that’s more for the anniversary present). Thinking of getting a small surprise for BB on V’Day, thus the scrambling on the internet for gift ideas.
Google “valentine’s day gift idea” and a dozen of the results involve flowers, chocolates, heart-shaped jewellery. Not exactly lame but…. you know, is lame, especially when marketers choose to jack up the price just for this occasion. Not that I won’t be happy receiving flowers (which girl doesn’t smile at the sight of flowers), just that I don’t find it particularly practical. So having my subject (Buddy Buddy) in mind, I started searching for practical stuff that he prefers. Food. Something that he will definitely love (if it’s tasty) and add more significance if it’s homemade.
So this Valentine’s, make some love in your kitchen. Afterall a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
Below are 2 recipes worth trying. Enjoy! =]

Kick start with a breakfast in bed: Egg White Crepes (for 2).
You need: 2 egg whites, 60g whole wheat flour, 120ml skim milk, 15ml vegetable oil, 1g salt, 70g of mixed frozen berries (thawed and drained), 7g confectioners’ sugar for dusting.
1) Whisk egg whites, wheat flour, skim milk, oil and salt together till smooth.
2) Lightly coat a frying pan with a thin layer of oil. Place pan over medium heat.
3) Pour 1/4 cup of the batter into the pan and tilt the skillet to the batter spread to the edges.
4) Wait till the bottom is light brown before flipping the crepe. It will take about 2 min.
5) Place 2 tablespoons of the mixed berries in the center of the crepe and let it cook for another 2 min.
6) Fold the crepe into half and sprinkle the sugar before serving.
Perfect the day with dessert: Oreo Truffles.
You need: 1packet (2 cups) of Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies (divided), 1 package (1 cup) of PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese (soften), 1 cup of semi sweet baking chocolate (melted)
1) Crush 1/5 of the cookies to fine crumbs in a food processor. Place them in a bowl and put it aside for later use. Crush the remaining cookies to fine crumbs and place them in another bowl and add in the cream cheese. Mix till well blended.
2) Roll the mixture into 1-inch-balls (or any other shapes you like).
3) Chill the balls and while chilling the balls, place the chocolate in a pan and melt them on low heat.
4) Dip the chilled balls into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with the reserved cookie crumbs.
5) Refrigerate for an hour before serving.
Hope this will be useful to those are not so talented in the kitchen. Do share your tips on how to make these dishes better and should you have other recipes do share too!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S to all! =]
